Cougar Kiss
11" X 15"
Original Watercolor by Frank Sant'Agata
SOLD
A good friend
runs a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation facility nearby. I
was fortunate one day, to be in the right spot, at just the right
moment, to capture these two cats with my camera. |

"Pizzicheria"

I lived my first five years in an Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn,
New York. Later we moved to a new home a few miles away, but
my cousins still lived in the old neighborhood, as did my grandparents,
aunts, and uncles. So, I would ride my bike there most summer
days. The ethnicity of the shopping area was enhanced by a full
array of specialty stores, each with its own smell. To this day
I can remember the aromas of the bakery, the vegatable stand,
fish market, pork store, cheese store; even the hardware store.
It has all changed since those wonderful days, but this little
shop in Sienna, Italy brought to mind those delightful memories.

Quiet Time
22" X 29"
Original Watercolor by Frank Sant'Agata

Venice has always
spoken to me. Even before I went there to see for myself, old
paintings by Canneletto, and photographs in books made me long
for this place. Like an ancient memory, it seemed so familiar--so
like home. This view is not far from St. Marks, and one that
I did many times before from pictures I had found, but this one
was my very own, and one that I felt would represent my love
for this place and my longing to return. |

Chairs
14 3/4" X 10 1/5"
Original Watercolor by Frank Sant'Agata
NFS
I was in the
business of restoring antiques for 30 years. This painting was
inspired by an actual accumulation of old chairs and chair parts
in my shop at one point in time. It has too much sentimentality
for me to part with it... Sorry. |

Tortilla Lady
15" X 22"
Original Watercolor by Frank Sant'Agata
NFS
A few years ago, my wife Angela, and I rode a Pullman to Oaxaca
(pronounced wa-ha-ka) in Mexico. The decendants of the original
peoples of Mexico still live there. The costumes of the Indian
women are refreshing to eyes that see much of the world adopting
our American style of dress. This painting was the first of a
series called "Women of Oaxaca." |

Atlantis Retrospect
15" X 22"
Original Watercolor by Frank Sant'Agata
SOLD
I felt a strange
drive as I created this painting. It was a very peculiar experience.
I started out with no idea how it would look when it was finished,
but my imagination went wild and I worked furiously on it for
several months. Even now it is an enigma to me as well as others.
Who are these people in strange dress? Why is there such a contrast
in the architecture? What are they doing? Where is this place?
What is the time period? All I could think to name it was Atlantis
Retrospect. |

McSorleys Old Ale House
10 1/2" X 13 3/4"
Original Watercolor by Frank Sant'Agata
NFS
McSorley's is
one of those landmark places in New York's village that has more
character than you will ever see in modern attempts to create
a warm "pubsy" atmosphere. Established in 1854, they
sell their own ale and nothing else. Have a seat and the waiter
will be over with the famous question: "Light or dark?"
The only change I saw when I visited after a thirty year lapse,
was the addition of a second restroom--one for women, who until
a few years ago were not permitted entry.

Wind and Weed
11" X 15"
Original Watercolor by Frank Sant'Agata
SOLD
I am a morning person. I can't sleep in. I almost always rise
before every one else and begin my day quietly. Morning is a
peaceful time and one filled with great beauty. Sunrise and sunset
are my two favorite times of day because there is so much visual
change going on. Hence, they have been the subjects for many
of my paintings. |

Nandina
5" X 7"
Original Watercolor by Frank Sant'Agata

This stuff grows along the front of our house. I like it a lot,
mostly because it always looks good, and requires little attention.
This tight little painting took many intensive hours to complete
for all the detail.

Birches
10" X 8"
Original Watercolor by Frank Sant'Agata
SOLD
The lush forests of the northeast were my getaway from the hustle-bustle
of NYC in my growing years. From the time I bought my first car,
I was off to upstate New York, and exploring New England whenever
my wandering urge became too strong to resist.

Taos Courtyard
12 3/8" X 10 1/2"
Original Watercolor by Frank Sant'Agata
NFS
I love the simplicity
of the pueblo. Simple building materials, small simple fireplaces,
few personal possessions, very little space, no running water,
no electricity, no modern conveniences. A few people still live
there year round, carrying water from the stream, cooking in
the outdoor ovens. We do the same thing each time we go camping.
We are beckoned to a simple way of life that is easily lost in
this world of excesses; a way of life that is so filled with
the very essence of life, we spend our vacations luxuriating
in it. |

Starscape
21" X 28 5/8"
Original Watercolor by Frank Sant'Agata
SOLD
This was one of those
unexplainable mad pursuits of paint and water, furiously thrown
down on hungry paper, in an effort to hear what it was trying
to say to me. It continues to make me look and wonder. Very strange!
